Set in the mid-1980’s Sunset Strip rock scene, Star Maker offers an all-access pass to the rise and fall of life in the music industry through the eyes of two up and coming stars: one aspiring executive and one aspiring artist.

Kit McKenna was determined to make a new life by moving out to Los Angeles where the rock scene was taking off. Fueled by blind ambition, she gladly left behind her sordid past in a rock band as the primary songwriter. Being a big-shot entertainment attorney and record executive was her chosen path now.

Once Kit landed in Hollywood, she quickly realized that the road was not paved in gold as she had thought. Rock bands were getting record deals almost weekly, but as a female manager she was constantly overlooked, not taken seriously, or even worse, harassed and propositioned. All of that changed one day when she signed Joe Arden to a legendary rock band as their flashy, new, lead guitarist, quickly turning him into a guitar god overnight. Then she met Sully Foxx, frontman of the struggling Sunset Strip rock band, Gypsy Tango and her whole life changed.

Sully had talent in spades. Kit recognized it from the moment he took the stage and started singing. She was already in over her head managing other bands on the Strip and juggling law school, but she couldn’t pass up the opportunity to manage Gypsy Tango. They were her diamond in the rough. She knew she could take them to that coveted spot that marked success: a seven figure record deal.

Despite the long hours, egomaniacs, and chauvinistic battles Kit was rising to the top and taking Gypsy Tango with her. Her focus was sharp, her desire strong, and her will unstoppable. And with Sully’s constant support and love, she felt invincible. But when things start to go off the rails and the success gets too big to manage for Joe and Gypsy Tango, Kit has to make tough choices that not only affect the band’s future, but her own.
