D. James Books is a small town library administrator who
uses his vast knowledge of poisons to eliminate people who rub him the wrong
way. Months after his oft-married ex-wife dies, suspicions rise that her death
was not what it seemed. Hard Harrison, the private investigator who moonlights
as a stand-up comedian, is hired to find out the truth without much to go on.
His path crosses with some interesting characters as he connects the dots to
stop the killer before Books eliminates the only witness, a beautiful callgirl,
and makes his escape.
